Amid COVID and monkeypox, tomato fever scare spreads in India; know signs, symptoms, prevention
New Delhi, July 26: Even as the whole world is grappling with the devastating effects of COVID-19, many countries are hit by monkeypox. And now the tomato fever or tomato flu scare is gripping the country.
Kerala reported the first tomato fever case first in India in May 11 and over 80 cases have been registered in this southern state alone. Since then, the cases have been reported in other states including Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.

fever
found
mostly
in
Kerala.
However,
it
is
unclear
whether
the
disease
is
a
viral
fever
or
an
aftereffect
of
chikungunya
or
dengue
fever.
Kollam, Neduvathur, Anchal and Aryankavu have been affected with this infection. As part of a preventive measure, Anganwadi centres have been closed while authorities launched awareness campaigns in villages.

tomatoes
and
skin

and

signs
of
dehydration
on
the
tongue.
Some patients have claimed that worms had come out of the boils that develop on the rashes.
High fever, body aches, joint swelling, fatigue, rashes of the size of tomatoes and irritation in the mouth, discolouration of the hands, knees, buttocks, etc.

symptoms.
Those infected by the disease are advised to consume a lot of fluid.
Rashes should not be scratched.
