All the way from Maharashtra to pay homage at Kalam's samadhi
Rameswaram (TN) Sep 4: In a display of love and respect towards former president A P J Abdul Kalam, 1,500 people on Friday journeyed from Maharashtra to his samadhi for paying floral tributes on the 40th day ceremony.
Pon Raj, the advisor to the late President, also led 2,000 students for paying tributes at the samadhi here on the occasion.

Another 800 students from the A K T Girls Higher secondary school from Rajapalayam also paid homage.
All students took the 10 point pledge which Kalam used to administer to students when he interacted with them. These included keeping onself, home, surroundings and the neighbourhood and environment clean and tidy.
Kalam's brother Muthu Meeran labbai Maraikayar led 700 people in offering worship at the mosque in the town.
