Akhilesh Yadav Reacts To Swami Prasad Maurya's Comment On Hinduism

Swami Prasad Maurya, a leader from the Samajwadi Party (SP), has stirred controversy once more due to his recent statement about the Hindu religion. During his address at the Bahujan Samaj Rights Conference held at Jantar Mantar, Maurya referred to the Hindu religion as a form of deceit on Monday.

Maurya, a notable leader represents Other Backward Classes (OBC) in Uttar Pradesh.

Akhilesh Yadav Reacts To Swami Prasad Mauryas Comment On Hinduism

Maurya said: "Hindu ek dhokha hai (Hinduism is a deceit)".

Quoting RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Maurya said "Mohan Bhagwat has said twice that there is no religion called Hindu but instead, it is a way of living. PM Modi has also said that there is no Hindu religion. Sentiments don't get hurt when these people make such statements but if Swami Prasad Maurya says the same, it causes unrest."

After Maurya's statement, Akhilesh Yadav recommended refraining from commenting on religion and caste during a discussion with representatives from Kannauj's Prabuddha Samaj and Maha Brahmin Samaj Panchayat held at the party's state headquarters in Lucknow.

Certain party workers expressed their disagreement with Swami Maurya's statements without directly mentioning his name.

During the discussion at the Panchayat, Akhilesh acknowledged the need to suppress this matter by all means possible.

This was not the first time when Maurya sparked religious controversy.

Earlier, Maurya sparked controversy by claiming that specific verses from the Ramcharitmanas "disrespect" a significant segment of society based on caste and urged for their "prohibition."

Such insensitive statements will surely affect the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) bloc's image, which comprises 28 political fronts, ahead of the Lok Sabha elections 2023 slated next year.
