Hindi Day: Literary Talents Honoured

Fight Against Linguistic Communalism

Bismillah, known for his seminal work "Jhini-Jhini Beeni Chadariya," highlighted the British role in creating confusion by labelling Hindi and Urdu as languages of Hindus and Muslims. He asserted, "There is no difference between Hindi and Urdu." He added that this honour represents shared culture, making it special.

Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav felicitated notable personalities including Uday Pratap Singh, Virendra Yadav, Surya Kumar Pandey, Pramod Tyagi, Deepak Kabir, Professor Ramesh Dixit, Vandana Mishra, Himanshu Sharma, Neeraj Yadav, Sanjeev Jaiswal, Qadir Rana, Archana Dixit, Rakesh Kumar, Mukesh Darpan, Ayush Yadav, Manendra Mishra, Sanjeev Yadav, Sandeep Yadav and Jaishankar Pandey.

Historical Context and Current Relevance

Uday Pratap Singh noted that linguistic communalism initiated by the British still persists. He mentioned that Mahatma Gandhi and Maulana Azad supported creating Hindustani by blending Hindi and Urdu. Singh also remarked on Hindi's status as one of the world's most spoken languages.

Writer Virendra Yadav discussed the deep connection between the socialist movement and Hindi. He recalled Dr Ram Manohar Lohia's efforts to reduce English dominance in post-independence India. He stated that the slogan "PDA Backward, Dalit, Minority" given by Akhilesh Yadav aligns with Lohia's ideology and includes B R Ambedkar's philosophy.

Literary Contributions Honoured

On this occasion, Akhilesh Yadav released Pramod Tyagi's book "Shapit Mahayodha Karna." Tyagi is a senior advocate from Muzaffarnagar and an active social and political activist. Additionally, Gunveer Rana presented his song collection "Aansoo Ki Sabha" to the SP president.

The event was attended by former Uttar Pradesh minister Rajendra Chaudhary, state SP president Shyam Lal Pal and MLA Pradeep Yadav. The gathering celebrated Hindi Day by recognising contributions from various literary and social figures.

The ceremony underscored the importance of linguistic unity and cultural integration. It highlighted ongoing efforts to address historical divisions created by colonial powers.
