Akhilesh Yadav Alleges Opposition Workers Illegally Detained in UP

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has raised serious allegations against the administrative actions in Uttar Pradesh, claiming that district magistrates and police forces are engaging in the illegal house arrest of opposition party workers. This move, according to Yadav, aims to prevent these individuals from participating in the upcoming vote counting process. Highlighting the urgency of the matter, Yadav's appeal for immediate intervention was shared on social media platform X, specifically mentioning districts such as Mirzapur, Aligarh, and Kannauj.

Illegal Detentions in UP Claims Yadav

In his post, Yadav called upon the attention of high-ranking officials and institutions including the Honourable Supreme Court of India, the Election Commission of India (@ECISVEEP), the Chief Electoral Officer of Uttar Pradesh (@CEOUP), and the Police Chief of Uttar Pradesh (@dgpup @Uppolice). He urged these authorities to take swift action against what he perceives as an infringement on democratic processes.

The former chief minister emphasized that while political parties have been conducting their activities peacefully, it is imperative for the government and administrative bodies to refrain from unethical practices that could incite public unrest. Yadav expressed hope for the immediate removal of biased district magistrates and administrative officers to ensure a tranquil environment for vote counting.

This controversy surfaces just a day before the Lok Sabha election results are due to be announced. In a statement that stirred further debate, Yadav invoked Mahatma Gandhi's "do or die" stance, suggesting that the youth are prepared to initiate a new freedom movement. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has responded to these remarks by requesting the Election Commission to take stringent measures against what they describe as attempts by the Samajwadi Party to incite anarchy during the vote counting.

The allegations and ensuing call for action underscore a tense prelude to the election results, highlighting concerns over fair democratic practices and the integrity of electoral processes in Uttar Pradesh.
