The aircraft, carrying 141 passengers, encountered a landing gear retraction problem shortly after taking off from Trichy. The pilots followed standard procedures by circling the area to burn off fuel before attempting a safe landing. Airport authorities had prepared for any emergency, but the plane successfully touched down without incident.

All passengers and crew members are safe, and further investigations into the technical issue are ongoing.

The Ministry of Civil Aviation confirmed that the flight landed normally. "The Air India Express Flight IX 613 from Tiruchirapalli to Sharjah has landed safely at Tiruchirapalli airport. The DGCA was monitoring the situation. The landing gear was opening, and the flight landed without incident. The airport was placed on alert," the ministry stated.

Trichy Airport Director Gopalakrishnan reported that the Air India flight experienced a hydraulic failure. To ensure safety, more than 20 ambulances and fire tenders were stationed at the airport to prevent any potential accidents.
