Air India Express Crew Lauded For Excellent Crisis Management After Hydraulic Failure But Lands Safely

An Air India Express flight, number AXB 613, experienced a worrying hydraulic failure shortly after it took off from Tiruchirappalli heading to Sharjah. Despite the alarming situation, the flight, carrying 141 individuals, managed to execute a safe emergency landing back at Tiruchirappalli airport. This incident, involving a significant mid-air technical snag, unfolded without any harm coming to the passengers or crew onboard.

It was around 8:15 pm when the aircraft, after being airborne for more than two hours in an attempt to burn off fuel, touched down safely. The civil aviation ministry was quick to confirm the incident, highlighting the effective response of the crew who adhered strictly to safety protocols to ensure the well-being of everyone on board. Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu praised the crew's actions and the efficient coordination of the airport's emergency teams. In his words, "The crew followed all safety protocols, ensuring the well-being of every passenger during the emergency."

The incident prompted an immediate response from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), which was tasked with conducting a detailed examination to pinpoint the exact cause of the hydraulic issue. In the meantime, Air India Express was advised to look after the passengers affected by this incident, which included making alternate travel arrangements for their journey. Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi also commended the crew for their professionalism during the crisis. "The courage and calm professionalism of the cockpit and cabin crew truly shone during this trying and tense moment," he stated, acknowledging the collective effort that ensured the safety of all those on board.

Adding to the voices of appreciation was Chief Minister MK Stalin, who expressed his relief and gratitude on social media for the safe landing of the flight. He detailed how he had coordinated an emergency response, which included deploying fire engines, ambulances, and medical teams, to ensure the safety of the passengers. He also directed local officials to provide necessary assistance to the passengers following the incident.

Despite the scare, Air India Express clarified that the crew had not declared an emergency but acknowledged the technical issue related to the aircraft's landing gear. The airline spokesperson assured that an alternative aircraft would be arranged for the affected passengers' onward journey. They also expressed regret for any inconvenience caused by the incident.
