AIMPLB Claims Waqf Bill Support Reveals True Stance Of Secular Parties

The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) has criticized several political parties for backing the recently passed Waqf Bill, accusing them of aligning with the BJP's "communal agenda" and exposing their "so-called secular facade."

In a statement, the AIMPLB announced a nationwide campaign to oppose the amendments, to be led in coordination with various religious, social, and community-based organizations. The board said the movement would continue until the amendments are completely repealed.

As part of its protest strategy, symbolic arrests of Muslim leaders will be staged in state capitals, while district-level demonstrations will culminate in the submission of memorandums to the President of India and the Union Home Minister through local district magistrates and collectors.

The statement also urged the Muslim community-particularly the youth-to remain calm, composed, and determined. It warned against reacting emotionally in ways that could benefit divisive or sectarian elements.

Massive protest gatherings are being planned in major cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Vijayawada, Malappuram, Patna, Ranchi, Malerkotla, and Lucknow. The campaign will begin with a large public event at Delhi's Talkatora Stadium and continue until Eid al-Adha. The next phase will be announced afterward.

The Waqf Bill, which has sparked widespread opposition, was passed in the Rajya Sabha early Friday after a 13-hour-long debate, with 128 members voting in favor and 95 against. It had cleared the Lok Sabha earlier, with 288 members supporting it and 232 opposing.
