AIIMS-Bhubaneswar Earns Trust of Odisha and Surrounding States, Says President Droupadi Murmu
President Droupadi Murmu highlighted the growing trust AIIMS-Bhubaneswar has earned, not only in Odisha but also in neighbouring states like West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, and Jharkhand. She spoke at the 5th Annual Convocation Ceremony of AIIMS in Bhubaneswar, noting the institution's significant growth over the past 12 years.

Odisha Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati praised AIIMS Bhubaneswar for its pioneering role in making healthcare accessible to all. He stated, "AIIMS Bhubaneswar has risen to national prominence and is second in ranking after AIIMS New Delhi. It has become a beacon for medical education, research, and patient care in eastern India."
AIIMS Bhubaneswar's Achievements
Murmu acknowledged the hospital's achievements in teaching, research, and healthcare. She mentioned that over 10 lakh outdoor patients received treatment last year. Additionally, 17 lakh diagnostic tests and 25,000 surgeries were conducted. The institute also received the WHO's Asia Safe Surgical Implant Consortium Quality Improvement Programme Award for maintaining high standards.
The National Kayakalp Award was given to AIIMS Bhubaneswar for exceptional sanitation and hospital services for five consecutive years. Murmu urged graduating students to contribute to society's welfare, likening doctors to representatives of God.
Healthcare Initiatives and Recognition
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for modernising healthcare services and recognising AIIMS Bhubaneswar as a centre of excellence. He noted the implementation of Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Aarogya Yojana in Odisha, covering 3.52 crore people.
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan emphasised that good health is crucial for human progress and prosperity. He said, "Good health is the foundation of human progress and prosperity, and there's no shortcut to that." He highlighted AIIMS Bhubaneswar's achievements in NIRF rankings and its potential as a MedTech centre.
