Jaya verdict: AIADMK member commits suicide

Chennai, Sep 28 (IANS) Distressed after Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa was jailed for corruption, a 45-year-old AIADMK member allegedly committed suicide in Tamil Nadu Sunday, police said.

Babu hanged himself from a tree close to his house near the temple town of Kanchipuram.

According to police, Babu was upset after a court in Bangalore Saturday sentenced Jayalalithaa to four years in prison for amassing wealth illegally when she was the chief minister in 1991-96.

"Babu may have taken his life because of that," a police officer said.
