Ahmedabad Air India Crash: Newly Married Woman From Rajasthan Dies While Traveling To Meet Husband In London

It was supposed to be a new beginning. Twenty-one-year-old Khushboo Rajpurohit had just taken a final photo with her father at the Ahmedabad airport before boarding her flight to London - a journey meant to reunite her with her husband, whom she had married just months earlier. But moments later, that farewell turned into a haunting memory as the Air India flight she boarded crashed shortly after takeoff, killing over 260 people.

The tragedy struck on June 12, 2025, when Air India flight AI171, a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, took off from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad, bound for London. The flight issued a mayday call shortly after takeoff and crashed into a hospital hostel near the airport, bursting into flames on impact.

Khushboo, a resident of Balotra in Rajasthan, was among the 242 passengers and crew onboard - and one of 11 victims from Rajasthan. She had married Dr. Vipul Rajpurohit, a doctor based in London, in January this year. While Vipul returned to the UK soon after their wedding, Khushboo was finally travelling to join him when tragedy struck.

Her father, Madan Singh Rajpurohit, had accompanied her to the airport. The two shared a final emotional moment - a photograph together - unaware it would be their last. The family received news of the crash while returning home, plunging both her parental and marital families into mourning.

The process of identifying victims has proven painstaking. Khushboo's father and brother are now awaiting DNA test results required to formally identify her remains before they can be handed over for last rites.
