After Sukma attack, centre puts new anti-Naxal policy in place

Following the attack at Sukma, Chhattisgarh in which 25 CRPF jawans were killed, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh had expressed concern and also said that the sacrifice of the jawans will not go in vain.

The role of the local police is very crucial. Currently, in anti-Naxal operations, the local police depend entirely on the CRPF. This is never helpful a senior Home ministry official said. The CRPF jawans who come in from different parts of the country are not familiar with the logistics and also the local language.

The villagers who can provide key intelligence do not identify with the jawans from other parts of the country. Hence the role of the local police becomes very important considering that he is familiar with the terrain and also the language.
