After Mallikarjun Kharge's poisonous snake remark, his son Priyank calls PM Modi 'nalayak beta'

Days after Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge's controversial remark against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, his son Priyank Kharge insulted the PM, calling him 'nalayak beta'.

Addressing a public gathering in poll-bound Karnataka, Priyank Kharge, while referring to PM Modi's recent visit to Kalaburgi said, "Recently you told the members of Banjara community not to worry as a son of Banjara is sitting in Delhi. What to do with such a nalayak beta? How do we run the household with such a nalayak beta."

The Bharatiya Janata Party took strong objection to Priyank Kharge's statement and criticized Congress for resorting to such tactics.

"For 40 years, Mallikarjun Kharge neglected Gurmitkal constituency, evident from its sorry state today. Priyank Kharge is doing the same to Chittapur," tweeted BJP Karnataka.

"Truly Mallikarjun Kharge is his son's real inspiration - when it comes to abusing the PM or keeping his constituency backward," it added.

This comes days after Mallikarjun Kharge called the prime minister a poisonous snake, a comment that he retracted minutes later.

"Modi is like a poisonous snake. If you think it is poison or not and you lick it, you are dead. You may think, is this poison," Kharge said.

The remark was very surprising considering the fact that the Karnataka Congress had decided that no personal remarks against the PM or other BJP leaders would be made.

It is to be noted that Congress's strategy of personal attacks has always resulted in a rise in PM Modi's popularity.

During the Gujarat elections, Congress had referred to PM Modi as Ravan while in 2019 it was 'Chowkidar Chor Hai.'

In 2014, when Modi was leading the campaign, Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar made a 'chaiwala' jibe against him. All these three times the Congress lost elections very badly.
