After Governor Swap, Who Will Be The Next Governor Of Tamil Nadu? Revealed

The transfer of Tamil Nadu's governor to West Bengal and the assignment of Ajay Kumar Bhalla to Tamil Nadu signals a significant Raj Bhavan reshuffle. The move, criticised for its consultation process, underscores ongoing tensions between state governments and the Union government over constitutional appointments.

Tamil Nadu Governor R.N. Ravi has been moved to West Bengal after a decision by the Union government, with Kerala Governor- Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar given additional charge of Tamil Nadu, while West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said this change was made without consulting the State leadership.

Mamata Banerjee wrote on X that the Union Home Minister had personally conveyed the appointment, stating, "Union Home Minister just informed me that Shri R.N. Ravi is being appointed as Governor of West Bengal. He never consulted with me as per the established convention in this regard," highlighting her objection to the process followed.

R.N. Ravi took charge as Governor of Tamil Nadu on September 18, 2021, and the nearly four-year period since then saw frequent friction with the M.K. Stalin government, with several issues turning into open stand-offs, placing the Raj Bhavan at the centre of political debates in the State.

With Ravi moving to West Bengal, the Union government has asked Kerala Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar to temporarily handle the additional responsibilities of Tamil Nadu Governor.
This arrangement will remain in place until a full-time governor is appointed for Tamil Nadu.

The development followed the sudden resignation of West Bengal Governor C. V. Ananda Bose, which Mamata Banerjee reacted to online, writing, "I am shocked and deeply concerned by the sudden news of the resignation of Shri C. V. Ananda Bose, the Governor of West Bengal.
