Yogi Adityanath Reviews Flood Situation in Eleven Affected Districts of Uttar Pradesh
Uttar Pradesh is grappling with severe flooding due to continuous rainfall, affecting 11 districts. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reviewed the situation on Sunday. He instructed officials in Kushinagar, Maharajganj, Lakhimpur Kheri, Ballia, Farrukhabad, Gonda, Kanpur Nagar, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Sitapur, Hardoi, and Shahjahanpur to ensure thorough preparedness for relief operations.

In the past 24 hours, rain-related incidents have claimed 10 lives across the state. Banda and Kannauj districts reported two deaths each. Pratapgarh, Fatehpur, Bhadohi, Ambedkar Nagar, Prayagraj, and Kanpur each reported one fatality. The chief minister urged officials to visit affected areas and expedite relief efforts.
Relief Operations and Assistance
Adityanath emphasised providing all possible assistance to those impacted by the floods. Following his directives, teams from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), and Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) have been deployed in the affected regions. District magistrates were also instructed to assess crop damage and report back for compensation processing.
The chief minister also called for immediate financial aid for individuals whose homes or livestock were damaged by the floods. Relief Commissioner Bhanu Chandra Goswami stated that relief efforts are being conducted intensively in the flood-affected districts.
Impact of Heavy Rainfall
The Indian Meteorological Department reported that 45 out of 75 districts in Uttar Pradesh experienced excess rainfall on Sunday. This has exacerbated the flood situation across the state. Over the last 72 hours, above-average rainfall has worsened conditions significantly.
Adityanath's instructions included ensuring that relief operations are carried out effectively and efficiently. The focus remains on providing immediate assistance to those affected and assessing damage for further compensation measures.
The state government is actively working to mitigate the impact of these adverse weather conditions. Efforts are ongoing to ensure that affected residents receive necessary support and resources during this challenging time.
