Dr Kalam no more: Nation mourns death of its beloved 'Missile Man'
New Delhi, July 27: Former President APJ Abdul Kalam, a popular head of state between 2002 and 2007, passed away today after he collapsed during a lecture at Shillong.
84-year-old Kalam was rushed to Bethany hospital in 84-year-old Kalam was rushed to Bethany hospital in Nongrim hills after he collapsed during the lecture in the Indian Institute of Management at around 6.30 PM.
The government has announced seven-day national mourning.
Tributes started pouring in on social networking site Twitter as soon as the tragic news broke. People from every section of the society, including politicians, celebrities, journalists, started paying homage to the departed soul and remembered his great works.
