New Delhi, Sept 11: Somnath Bharti's wife Lipika Mitra now hurled another serious charge against him. With the new allegations, the former Law Minister of Delhi and AAP MLA may land in serious legal trouble.

Lipika now accused Bharti of trying to kill her twice. While recording her statement in front of a judicial magistrate, Lipika on Thursday, Sept 10 told that Bharti had slit her wrist with a sharp object.

The incident allegedly had taken place in front of their children, who were so traumatised that they could not utter a "single word" for next few days, said Lipika.

Continuing her statement, Lipika also recalled the horrific incident on Mar 19, 2003. According to her statement, she was 7-month pregnant at the time when the couple had a fight.

She reportedly asked Bharti to pay the rent of their house. The AAP MLA was furious and allegedly abused Lipika. He also allegedly let his dog attack her pregnant wife.

In her statement, Lipika wrote, "...Somnath Bharti abused me on hearing my request for the money. An argument followed and Bharti slapped me several times and also tried to strangle me...he pushed me knowing well that I was in the seventh month of my pregnancy."

"He then made his dog (a big labrador) attack me. While the dog attacked me, Bharti was standing and watching me getting mauled by the animal. I was bitten by the dog at multiple places on my stomach and private parts," she added.

Lipika's statement has been recorded on the day when Delhi Police registered an FIR against Somnath Bharti, a close aide of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

The FIR comes after four attempts of mediation between the MLA and his wife failed to bear any result and Lipika insisted that the police should now take action against the AAP legislator.

A court had on July 7 dismissed an anticipatory bail plea moved by Bharti saying the application was premature since no FIR had been lodged against him.

Lipika had filed a complaint of domestic violence with the Delhi Commission for Women on June 10 alleging that her husband had been abusing her ever since their marriage in 2010.
