AAP Demands Proactive Measures from Haryana Government to Control Farm Fires
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) urges the Haryana government to take proactive steps in curbing the increase of farm fires. The party accuses the BJP-JJP government of negligence and demands Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar's resignation.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has recently called for more proactive measures from the Haryana government to control farm fires, which have reportedly tripled in the state this year compared to past years. This sharp increase is alleged by AAP as a significant contributor to Delhi's escalating air pollution problem. However, these claims have been disputed by Harish Khurana, Secretary of Delhi BJP.
AAP Accuses Haryana Government of Inaction

Anurag Dhanda, the senior vice-president of AAP’s Haryana unit held a press conference where he accused the BJP-JJP government in Haryana of failing to effectively manage and control this situation. He demanded that Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar should resign due to his perceived inability to address this ongoing issue. The rising trend in farm fires was confirmed through satellite images despite claims from the government that they have implemented several measures aimed at controlling them.
"The Haryana government needs to take steps to ensure that people do not face the ill-effects of pollution," Dhanda stated during his address. According to him, there were 277 reported incidents of stubble burning in Haryana so far this year, whereas during the same period last year and two years ago there were only 62 and 80 such incidents respectively.
Delhi BJP Secretary Refutes Claims
However, these allegations were strongly refuted by Harish Khurana, Delhi BJP secretary who accused AAP of spreading misinformation regarding crop residual burning and its impact on Delhi's air quality. According to Khurana, AAP’s claim about a three-fold rise in crop residual burning contributing majorly towards air pollution in Delhi is unfounded.
AAP Highlights Measures Taken
Priyanka Kakkar, chief national spokesperson for AAP enumerated various steps taken by the party to combat the issue of stubble burning and air pollution. However, she did not provide specific details about these measures during her address.
In conclusion, as Delhi grapples with worsening air quality, political parties are seen pointing fingers at each other over the responsibility of escalating farm fires in neighbouring Haryana. While AAP insists on a three-fold increase in such incidents causing severe pollution issues in Delhi, BJP refutes these claims as baseless. Amidst this political blame game, it is evident that a comprehensive and effective strategy needs to be devised and implemented urgently to curb stubble burning incidents and mitigate their detrimental impact on air quality.
