AAP Leaders Convene to Forge Delhi Assembly Poll Strategy
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Manish Sisodia will commence a foot march on August 14 to engage with Delhi residents. This announcement followed a strategy meeting for the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections, attended by senior AAP leaders including ministers Atishi, Saurabh Bharadwaj, and Gopal Rai, along with Rajya Sabha MPs Sanjay Singh and Sandeep Pathak.

Pathak, who serves as the AAP's national general secretary organisation, stated that the meeting focused on election strategies and the political climate in Delhi. He emphasised that despite challenges from the BJP, the AAP remains resilient and continues to perform well. "It has become clear to the people of the country that the BJP has only one agenda -- to stop our work and break our party. Despite such adverse conditions, the AAP has stood strong and is doing good work," Pathak said.
Foot March to Connect with Residents
Sisodia will meet with MLAs on Monday and party councillors on Tuesday before starting his foot march. This initiative aims to strengthen connections with Delhi's populace ahead of the elections. The former deputy chief minister's release from jail last Friday has invigorated the party's leadership and supporters.
Delhi minister Saurabh Bharadwaj noted an increase in enthusiasm among AAP members since Sisodia's return. "Ever since Sisodia has returned home from jail, there is a lot of enthusiasm among AAP leaders and cadre and the people of Delhi," he said. Bharadwaj expressed confidence in the party's prospects, stating, "I am confident that in the upcoming assembly elections, Delhiites will not give even a single seat to the BJP."
Strategic Discussions and Future Plans
Gopal Rai, who is also the convener of AAP's Delhi unit, participated in the discussions about election strategies. The meeting underscored the party's focus on expanding its influence beyond Delhi. Pathak mentioned that AAP is growing in other states and emerging stronger despite adversities.
Sisodia's release was a significant relief for AAP, which has been managing without its national convener Arvind Kejriwal and senior leader Satyendar Jain. The Supreme Court granted Sisodia bail after 17 months in jail related to an excise policy case. The court criticised lower courts for his prolonged detention without trial, highlighting his right to speedy justice.
Campaign Progress in Haryana
Pathak also provided updates on AAP's campaign in Haryana, where they plan to contest all 90 assembly seats. He reported positive progress and growing support for the party in the state.
When asked about potential roles for Sisodia within the party or government, Pathak indicated that these discussions would occur soon. The focus remains on preparing for the upcoming elections and maintaining momentum across various states.
The recent developments have bolstered AAP's morale as they gear up for crucial electoral battles. Sisodia’s engagement with Delhi residents through his foot march is expected to further solidify support for the party.
