Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini Critiques AAP for Blame Shifting and Lies on Pollution Issues

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini criticised the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Delhi, accusing it of deflecting blame for its own failures. He stated that the AAP often points fingers at others instead of acknowledging its shortcomings. This criticism followed Delhi Chief Minister Atishi's remarks blaming the BJP for increasing pollution levels in the capital.

Saini Critiques AAP for Blame Shifting

According to a statement from the Haryana government, Saini highlighted that the Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD) of water supplied to Delhi from Haryana is around 2-3 mg per litre. Additionally, he noted that the BOD of water through the CLC canal is zero. Saini questioned who should be held accountable for pollution in the 28 drains carrying water from Delhi's border to Okhla.

Pollution Concerns and Accusations

Saini accused the AAP government of prioritising personal gains over public welfare. He claimed they have a tendency to lie and shift blame onto others. Meanwhile, air quality in Delhi has worsened with winter's arrival, and toxic froth has appeared on the Yamuna River, particularly at Kalindi Kunj.

Atishi defended AAP-ruled Punjab, attributing Delhi's poor air quality to stubble burning, diesel buses, and brick kilns in BJP-ruled Haryana. She criticised the BJP, asserting that untreated industrial wastewater released into the Yamuna caused the froth seen in Delhi.

Financial Allocations and Environmental Impact

Atishi stated that Haryana discharges 165 million gallons per day (MGD) of untreated industrial wastewater into the Yamuna through Badshahpur, Mungeshpur, and other drains. Additionally, Uttar Pradesh contributes 65 MGD of polluted water via various drains into the river.

Saini questioned AAP's utilisation of over Rs 6,000 crore received from the Central government for cleaning the Yamuna River. He pointed out that Rs 3,000 crore was allocated in the past two years alone and asked what actions have been taken with these funds.

The ongoing blame game between political parties highlights significant environmental challenges faced by Delhi. The focus remains on addressing pollution effectively while ensuring accountability for funds allocated towards environmental initiatives.
