8 SIMI operatives who escaped from Bhopal jail killed in encounter
The 8 SIMI operatives who escaped from the Bhopal central jail this morning have been killed in an encounter at Einthkedi village on the outskirts of Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.
Bhopal, Oct 31: The 8 SIMI operatives who escaped from the Bhopal central jail this morning have been killed in an encounter at Einthkedi village on the outskirts of Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.
They have been identified as Sheikh Mujeeb, Khaled, Aqeel, Majid, Zaqir Hussain, Mohammad Saliq, Sheikh Mehboob and Amjad.

Immediately after the escape, the Madhya Pradesh police swung into action and tracked the operatives down. They were planning their escape out of the state but were cornered at the Einthkedi village on the outskirts of Bhopal.
The operatives were accused in the Ahmedabad serial blasts case. They were also being tried for the Karimnagar, Pune and Chennai blasts.
The operatives according to the police used a rope made out of bed sheets. They scaled the wall of the jail at around 4 AM on Monday before escaping. Superintendent of Police, Bhopal, Arvind Saxena who is leading the investigations informed that the operatives killed the security guard by slitting his throat with a steel plate and a glass. The operatives are said to have overpowered the guard before killing him.
Following this incident, the Madhya Pradesh Government has suspended 5 jail officials pending inquiry. Further a reward of Rs 5 lakh for any information relating to these persons has also been announced.
MP, Chief Minister, Shivraj Singh Chouhan held a high level meeting. He also appraised Union Home Minister, Rajnath Singh about the incident.
Preliminary investigations suggest that this jail break was masterminded by Abu Faisal alias doctor. Faisal is lodged in the same jail and is serving a life term.
