7 Dead, Several Injured As Two Luxury Buses Collide Head-On On Gujarat-Maharashtra Highway Near Surat

Seven people died and many others suffered injuries after two luxury buses crashed head-on on the Gujarat-Maharashtra Highway on Tuesday. The collision happened near Bardoli Tehsil in Surat district, Gujarat, and emergency teams moved injured passengers to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Police said the impact occurred on a busy stretch of the inter-state route, used heavily by long-distance travellers. Both vehicles were operating as luxury services and were carrying passengers when they collided on the highway linking Gujarat and Maharashtra.

Visuals from the accident site showed one bus lying on its side with thick smoke rising from it. The front section of the second bus was crushed and torn open, indicating the strength of the impact. Officials confirmed that both buses belonged to the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC).

Fire teams and other responders worked to control flames that broke out in one of the buses after the crash. Search and rescue operations continued along the highway in Bardoli Tehsil as authorities checked for more victims.
