4000 to 150: Drop in calls to grievance cell after AAP's exit

The public grievance monitoring cell, which during the 49 days of Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP government, received on an average around 4,000 complaints per week, now gets only 150, Delhi government officials said. Besides, 90 per cent of the complainants were reportedly turned down, citing that their complaints could not be redressed.
Taking a strong note of the same, the chief secretary has directed the grievance monitoring cell to pull up their socks and disseminate information about action taken by them on various complaints.
According to sources, the sharp decline is because of the lackadaisical attitude of the concerned department's officials. "At a meeting of heads of departments, Ravi Dadhich, additional secretary in the Chief Minister's Office, reported that out of the 15,000 pending references, around 15 per cent pertains to Delhi Police, MCD (North/South), Education Department, DDA, and the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC).
"The number of new cases coming in is on the decline as around 150 references are received per week. The Chief Secretary reiterated that complainants must be kept informed of the actions taken by the departments," the minutes of the meeting stated.
