300 INDIA Bloc Leaders To March To Election Commission Office On Monday

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge is set to host a dinner for the INDIA bloc MPs on Monday, according to sources. This gathering comes amid efforts by the opposition to unite against the special intensive revision of electoral rolls in Bihar and alleged election rigging. The same day, opposition leaders and MPs plan a protest march from Parliament to the Election Commission office over these issues.

Recently, top leaders of the INDIA bloc convened at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's residence for a dinner meeting. They pledged to oppose the electoral roll revisions in Bihar and what they termed as the BJP-Election Commission's "vote chori model." This gathering marked their first physical meeting since June 2024, following the Lok Sabha elections at Kharge's residence.

Opposition Leaders Unite

The meeting saw participation from leaders of 25 parties, including Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, NCP-SP chief Sharad Pawar, National Conference's Farooq Abdullah, PDP's Mehbooba Mufti, SP's Akhilesh Yadav, RJD's Tejashwi Yadav, TMC's Abhishek Banerjee, Shiv Sena(UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray, DMK's Tiruchi Siva and T R Baalu, CPI(M)'s M A Baby, CPI's D Raja, CPI(ML)'s Dipankar Bhattacharya and MNM chief Kamal Haasan.

During this meeting, Rahul Gandhi presented on the alleged "vote chori model" executed by the BJP through the Election Commission. He detailed how elections were being "rigged," according to Congress. "A united front against electoral manipulation! We are committed to protecting democracy and will save it from being destroyed at all costs," stated Congress in a post on X.

Protests Against Electoral Roll Revisions

Opposition parties have been vocal against the ongoing SIR exercise in Bihar. They argue that it could result in many voters losing their rights. At an earlier press conference, Gandhi made explosive claims about a "huge criminal fraud" in polls due to alleged collusion between BJP and the Election Commission.

"The way opposition parties have been united in Parliament in national interest and have cornered the government, the same unity was visible in the meeting as well," said Gaurav Gogoi, Congress's deputy leader in Lok Sabha.

The upcoming dinner hosted by Kharge at Hotel Taj Palace in Chanakyapuri aims to further solidify this unity among INDIA bloc MPs. As they continue their campaign against alleged electoral malpractices, their collective efforts underscore their commitment to safeguarding democratic processes.
