3 more kids die of encephalitis in Uttar Pradesh, toll touches 584

Gorakhpur(UP), Nov 24: Three more children succumbed to encephalitis taking the death toll due to the disease to 584 in eastern region of Uttar Pradesh, health officials said today.

The three children died at Baba Raghav Das Medical College Hospital here, they said. Nine new patients with symptoms of Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) have been admitted to BRD-MCH and district hospitals of the region, sources in the Additional Director health office said.

The number of patients with Acute Encephalitis Syndrome admitted in different government hospitals this year has touched 2,798, the sources said.
