Uttar Pradesh Transfers 29 Police Personnel to Police Lines Following Navratri Violence
In a recent development, 29 police personnel, primarily constables from Hardi and Ramgaon police stations in Uttar Pradesh, were reassigned to the Police Lines. This action follows violent incidents during Navratri celebrations that resulted in one fatality. The violence occurred in areas under the jurisdiction of these two police stations.

The deceased, Ramgopal Mishra, hailed from Rehua Mansoor village, which is part of the Ramgaon police station area. However, the location where he was killed falls under the Hardi police station's jurisdiction. Mishra, aged 22, was shot dead on October 13 in Maharajganj within the district's Mahsi tehsil. The incident stemmed from a dispute over loud music during a Durga idol immersion procession.
Police Personnel Transfers
According to a statement from the district police superintendent's office, 14 personnel from Hardi and 15 from Ramgaon were transferred to the Police Lines. Superintendent of Police Vrinda Shukla clarified that these transfers are routine. "These are routine transfers, constables have a two-year term in a police station. That period expired, so they have been sent to the Police Lines," she stated.
Shukla emphasized that these transfers are unrelated to the Maharajganj Mahsi violence. She mentioned that similar transfer lists for other police stations will also be prepared. The violence had escalated into communal unrest, leading to incidents of arson and vandalism.
The situation highlights ongoing tensions in the region following the Navratri celebrations. Authorities continue to manage the aftermath of these events while maintaining law and order. The reassignment of police personnel is part of regular administrative procedures within the department.
