25 Rohingyas Arrested In Haryana As Violence In Nuh Continues

The Haryana Police has apprehended multiple Rohingya refugees in connection with the recent communal unrest in Nuh district. According to Narender Bijarniya, the Superintendent of Police in Nuh, some Rohingya refugees had unlawfully occupied land belonging to Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran in Tauru, leading to a demolition drive. However, some of them have also been identified as being involved in pelting stones and participating in the mob violence that occurred on July 31.

Officials are currently scrutinizing their documents, and initial investigations have revealed that all of them possess refugee identity cards issued by the United Nations. Most of the Rohingyas living in Nuh arrived from Myanmar's Rakhine state following the 2017 violence and entered India through various routes.

25 Rohingyas Arrested in Haryana As Violence In Nuh Continues

Reports indicate that there are approximately two thousand Rohingyas currently residing in Nuh, with a considerable number holding UN-issued refugee cards. Their recent involvement in the violence on July 31 has brought them under scrutiny by the police, who suspect some may be actively instigating violence in the area based on received information and inputs.

In response to their involvement in the recent violence, authorities have demolished 250 slums inhabited by Rohingya refugees in Tavadu. These slums were situated on forest department land, and the refugees were suspected of being engaged in criminal activities. The police are actively searching for other individuals believed to be involved in the violent incident.

A significant number of Rohingya refugees have been living in a slum area near the mini-secretariat, with over 200 slums reported in the location. Some of these refugees have been implicated in the recent violent incidents, and there are emerging revelations about their involvement in various criminal activities. Authorities are contemplating appropriate actions to address the situation, and the refugees' documents are being examined to verify their identities and legal status.

The new SP of Nuh, Narendra Bijrania, confirmed that they have received information about the Rohingyas' involvement in the violence and are examining their refugee documents to identify those with UN cards.

The escalation of violence in Nuh has been partially attributed to videos circulated on social media. As a result, approximately 60 suspects have been arrested in connection with the incident, and ten cases related to social media activities have been registered. The number of injured individuals in the Nuh violence has reached 88, with 70 of them being identified by Friday.

The violent clash occurred during the 'Brij Mandal Jalabhishek Yatra' organized by Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal in Haryana's Nuh district. The event resulted in vehicle burnings and stone pelting between two communities in the Muslim-majority region of Mewat.
