20-year-old woman shot dead in broad daylight in UP's Jalaun

In a shocking incident, 20-year-old woman on her way home after a college exam was shot dead by by two unknown people on a motorbike in Jalaun district of Uttar Pradesh on Monday.

The woman identified as Roshni Ahirwar, was a Bachelor of Arts (BA) student. The incident took place when she was returning home near Kotra Mod after writing an examination at her college.

According to the police, the assailants, who shot her in the head with a country-made pistol, dropped the weapon near the body and fled.

The spot where he was shot dead is about 200 metres away from the local police station.

Following the incident, the woman's parents lodged a complaint. "Roshini had gone to write her digital marketing paper at Ram Lakhan Patel Degree College in Ait town of the district," her father said.

''The assailants were likely to be someone known to the woman. The Police has constituted 4 teams, that are raiding all possible hideouts arrests will be made soon,'' Superintendent of Police (SP) Iraj Raja said as quoted by news agency ANI.

As per witnesses statement, the two men had their faces covered when they approached her near the Kotra trisection.

Meanwhile, a case has been registered and further investigations are on.

A video clip of the incident showing the woman lying in a pool of blood on the road has gone viral on various social media platforms, drawing sharp criticism towards the Yogi-Adityanath-led state government. Netizens have question the law and order situation of the state.

Meanwhile, the Rashtriya Janta Dal (RJD) shared the same video clip on micro-blogging Twitter and wrote,''In Uttar Pradesh's Jalaun, two bike-borne youths shot dead a girl student in broad daylight. Will the wolves of Godi media and the BJP celebrate this death too?."

Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav said on Twitter, "BJP government = crime"
