100 injured on Diwali night in Jaipur, firemen kept busy

"18 people were admitted to different wards and others were given primary treatment," Dr Jagdish, in charge of emergency, Sawai Man Singh government hospital told PTI. A few more cases were reported in other hospitals also taking the total number of people receiving injuries to 100 in the city.
52 fire incidents also occurred in the city last night. "Major fire broke out at six places including a state roadways depot in Vaishali nagar, a flat in Mansarover, scrap godown at Lohamandi, one cloth shop among others. 30 fire tenders were in service last night," Ishwar Jat, Chief Fire Officer said.
He said that no one injured in the incidents. Wlaborate security arrangements were in place with deployment of additional policemen in the city for the festival season. Special arrangements for traffic regulation have also been made. "Diwali celebrations were peaceful in the city and barring fire mishaps, no major incident occurred. "Senior officers were on patrolling and kept strict vigil," Police Commissioner Srinivas Rao Janga said.
