Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday hailed BJP's Hyderabad candidate Kompella Madhavi Latha who is taking on the AIMIM chief Asadduin Owaisi. She shared a video link of an interview of her.

I also urge everyone to watch the repeat telecast of this programme at 10 AM or 10 PM today. You all will find it very informative."

It is rare for the PM to share such posts on his social media. So, who is Madhavi Latha?

Madhavi Latha, holding degrees in public administration and political science from Nizam College and Osmania University respectively, chairs Hyderabad's Virinchi Hospitals.

She actively participated in the National Cadet Corps (NCC) during her student years and is a skilled Bharatanatyam performer.

A staunch advocate against triple talaq, outlawed in 2019, Latha collaborated with Muslim women's groups in Hyderabad's old quarters, where the practice was prevalent. She established a fund to support economically disadvantaged Muslim women and girls in the area.

Beyond her healthcare initiatives, including organizing health camps and flood relief efforts, Latha is noted for her commitment to promoting Sanatana Dharma through religious activities. Despite setbacks like Virinchi Hospitals' license revocation for alleged patient overcharging during the COVID-19 pandemic, Latha remains dedicated to her community.

Latha is a mother of three with her eldest daughter securing admission to the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT).

Latha has also gained attention through her homeschooling her children.

Hyderabad Lok Sabha Constituency

The Hyderabad Lok Sabha constituency is one of the keenly-watched contests after the BJP fielded greenhorn.

Historically, the Hyderabad Lok Sabha constituency, primarily encompassing the old city of Hyderabad with a predominantly Muslim populace, has remained a stronghold for AIMIM. Nevertheless, the BJP has been actively striving to gain ground within the constituency.

This constituency comprises seven assembly segments: Bahadurpura, Chandrayangutta, Charminar, Goshamahal, Karwan, Malakpet, and Yakatpura.

Elections in Telangana are scheduled for May 13.
