In alleged connection with the Delhi Liquor Police Case, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader K Kavitha on Saturday late evening and now she has been brought to the national capital to produce her before the court, said reports. This is third high-profile political arrest by the ED in Delhi Liquor Police Case, followed by Aam Aadmi Party's top-notch leaders Sanjay Singh and Manish Sisodia. Who is K Kavitha?

K Kavitha, daughter of former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao and sister of popular Telangana minister KT Rama Rao, is one of the prominent leaders of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), formerly known as Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS). She has been a Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) from Nizamabad since 2020. Before this, she represented the same constituency as a member of Parliament between 2014 to 2019.

According to the information shared by the BRS leader in her 2019 election affidavit, she has assets worth Rs 20.48 crore in her name, adding liabilities of Rs 16.62 crore. While her husband holds assets worth Rs 19.12 crore, and liabilities worth Rs 5 crore.
What is K Kavitha's role in the Delhi Liquor Policy Case?
The Enforcement Directorate has alleged that K Kavitha was part of a 'south cartel' along with Hyderabad businessmen Sarath Reddy, Arun Pillai, and Abhishek Boinpally, chartered accountant Butchibabu, YSR Congress MP Magunta Sreenivasulu Reddy, and his son Raghav Magunta Reddy in relations with now scrapped, Delhi liquor policy alleged scam.
The investigating agency has alleged that K Kavitha is part of the money laundering and was not cooperating in the investigation despite being summoned several times.
Reacting to the BRS leader and her sister's arrest, KT Rama Rao said it is a show of "Abuse of power and institutional misuse to settle political scores." KTR asked when the matter is pending before the Supreme Court, and it will be heard in a couple of days (March 19), then why did ED rush to arrest K Kavitha?
"What's even more appalling is the ED undermining its own undertaking given to the Hon'ble Supreme Court. Justice shall prevail and we will continue to fight legally," KTR added.
