Weather Update: Telangana, Kerala Brace For Rain On Monday

The Indian Meteorological Department has predicted moderate spells of rain for Kerala, Telangana and a few other parts of the country on Monday.

"Intense to very intense convection over south Kerala, south east Telangana, east Meghalaya & adjoining southeast Assam and Manipur very likely to cause moderate spells of rain accompanied with thunderstorms, gusty winds & lightning over the region during next few hours," the IMD said in a statement.

As per the weather monitoring agency in Telangana, moderate rain or thundershowers are expected in several parts of the state including Hyderabad.

"Thunderstorm accompanied with Lightning and gusty winds(30-40 kmph) very likely to occur at isolated places in Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagityal, Rajanna Sirsilla, Karimnagar, Peddapally, Warangal, Hanamkonda, Janagaon, Siddipet, Yadadri Bhuvangiri, Rangareddy, Hyderabad, Medchal Malkajigiri, Sangareddy districts of Telangana," the statement from said.

As per the IMD, the weather in most parts of the state ranged from 36-40°C.

Coming to Kerala, rain or thundershower is most likely to occur at a few places in Kerala and dry weather is most likely to prevail over Lakshadweep on Monday.

Temperatures are forecasted to reach approximately 39˚C in Kollam & Thrissur districts, around 38˚C in Palakkad & Kozhikode districts, roughly 37˚C in Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam & Kannur districts, and about 36˚C in Alappuzha, Kottayam, and Malappuram districts (2 to 3˚C above normal) till April 25. In certain spots in Kerala, temperatures are expected to surpass the 95th percentile of typical values during April 21 to 25.

"Hot & Humid weather is very likely over these districts except in hilly areas during 21st to 25th April 2024 due to high temperature and humidity," the IMD said.

As far as Andhra weather is concerned, The IMD forecasts thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds, with speeds of 40-50 km/h, expected at isolated locations across NCAP & Yanam. Additionally, isolated areas in NCAP & Yanam, SCAP, and Rayalaseema are likely to experience hot, humid, and uncomfortable weather conditions.
