Warangal Airport, ORR & Drainage Upgrade: Telangana CM Revanth Reddy’s Mega Investment

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has unveiled an ambitious plan to transform Warangal into a thriving urban center, akin to Hyderabad. Speaking at the "Prajapalana - Pragati Bata" meeting, the Chief Minister highlighted Warangal's rich historical significance and acknowledged the vital role that the people and students of Kakatiya University played in the Telangana movement.

To bring this vision to fruition, Chief Minister Reddy announced a substantial budget of ₹6,500 crore designated for essential infrastructure projects aimed at revitalizing the city. The initiatives outlined include the construction of an Outer Ring Road and an underground drainage system, both of which are expected to greatly enhance the city's connectivity and livability.

The Chief Minister proudly reiterated the government's commitment to fulfilling its promise of establishing an airport in Warangal, thus providing a boost to regional connectivity and economic growth. Furthermore, he assured ongoing efforts to develop a Kazipet Railway Division, aimed at enhancing transportation infrastructure.

Development Projects

During the event, Chief Minister Reddy virtually inaugurated an impressive array of development projects worth ₹630.27 crore from Shivunipalli in the Station Ghanpur constituency. Some of the key projects include:

  • ₹200 crore allocated for a Young India Integrated Residential School in Konaayachalam village, Jafargadh mandal.
  • ₹5.5 crore for a new degree college in Ghanpur, expanding educational opportunities.
  • ₹45.5 crore for a state-of-the-art 100-bed hospital to enhance healthcare services.
  • ₹26 crore set aside for an Integrated Divisional Level Office Complex.
  • ₹148.76 crore for the second phase of the Devadula project, alongside necessary canal lining works aimed at improving irrigation.
  • Approval for 512 Indiramma houses to provide affordable housing solutions.
  • Initiatives for road expansion and the establishment of new substations to improve connectivity and power supply.

Empowering Women Through Financial Support

In a significant move to empower women, the Chief Minister distributed ₹102.1 crore under the Mahila Shakti scheme to bolster women's self-help groups (SHGs). This initiative included the provision of seven RTC buses to support mobility for SHGs. Additionally, an interest subsidy of ₹92.74 crore was allocated for 48,717 SHGs in the erstwhile Warangal district, while another ₹100.93 crore was designated for 1,289 SHGs in Jangaon district.

The event saw the presence of several prominent leaders, including Ministers Konda Surekha, Danasari Seethakka, and Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy. Chief Minister's Advisor Vem Narender Reddy, MP Kadiyam Kavya, and local MLA Kadiyam Srihari were also in attendance, alongside various district representatives.
