A 32-year-old man from Hyderabad has been arrested after allegedly driving his newly purchased Volkswagen Virtus at more than 200 kmph on the Outer Ring Road (ORR) and uploading the video on Instagram for social media attention. The stunt, which police said put several lives at risk, was carried out on one of the city's busiest stretches.

Man Arrested For Over speeding

The accused has been identified as Kothapalli Yashwanth Reddy, a resident of Alkapur Township in Puppalaguda of Rangareddy district.

Dangerous High-Speed Drive On Hyderabad ORR

According to police, the incident took place on May 10 at around 10:30 am. Yashwanth Reddy allegedly drove the Volkswagen Virtus, carrying temporary registration number "TGTR2026", from Narsingi Toll Plaza towards TGPA Toll Plaza at extremely high speed.

Police said the accused crossed nearly 200 kmph while driving on the ORR, endangering commuters as well as toll plaza personnel on the route. Authorities added that the entire stunt was recorded on a mobile phone and later uploaded on Instagram through an account named "Yashwanth Reddy".

The viral video reportedly triggered concern among road users and eventually drew the attention of police officials.

Complaint Filed After Viral Instagram Video

The matter came to light after Road Patrolling Officer Karingula Sairam filed a complaint at Narsingi Police Station on May 19.

Based on the complaint, police registered a case under Sections 125 and 281 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and launched an investigation into the reckless driving incident.

Officials said technical evidence and social media tracking helped investigators identify and trace the accused.

During questioning, Yashwanth Reddy reportedly admitted that he had bought the Volkswagen Virtus in April 2026 and drove it at nearly 200 kmph on the ORR "to test the car's performance."

Police have since seized the vehicle used in the offence.
