Telangana To Rename US Consulate Road As ‘Donald Trump Avenue’

The Telangana government has decided to name the road beside the United States Consulate General in Hyderabad as 'Donald Trump Avenue’. The move links a major diplomatic spot with the name of US President Donald Trump and comes ahead of a key investment summit near Hyderabad, placing the city in an unusual international spotlight.

Officials said the state will soon write to the Union Ministry of External Affairs and the US Embassy about the plan for 'Donald Trump Avenue’. The renaming forms part of a broader exercise in Telangana to brand several important roads after global figures and large companies, aligning with the state’s push to court investors.

The idea of using road names for global branding was earlier floated by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy at the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum conclave in Delhi. At that event, A Revanth Reddy suggested that main roads in Hyderabad could carry the names of leading multinational corporations. The current decision on 'Donald Trump Avenue’ reflects that proposal.

Under the same strategy, the government will honour major technology companies that have large operations in Hyderabad. A key stretch in the Financial District, running alongside Google’s upcoming campus, will be named 'Google Street’. The campus is expected to be Google’s largest facility outside the United States, adding weight to the choice of location for 'Google Street’.

The renaming drive is not limited to foreign leaders and tech giants. A new greenfield radial road linked to the proposed Regional Ring Road, or RRR, will be named after the late industrialist Ratan Tata. Microsoft and Wipro will also find their names in Hyderabad’s map through a planned Microsoft Road and Wipro Junction, according to the official release.

These announcements have been timed with the Telangana Rising Global Summit, which begins on Monday at the upcoming Bharat Future City near Hyderabad. The two-day summit is designed to showcase investment opportunities across Telangana. By unveiling 'Donald Trump Avenue’ and other themed road names now, the government signals how infrastructure and branding are being used together to attract global attention.
