Telangana Schools Closed From Jan 12 Due To Makar Sankranti Festival
Schools in Telangana are gearing up for a six-day holiday extravaganza from January 12th to 18th, 2024, in observance of the Makar Sankranti Festival, an important Hindu celebration marking the commencement of harvest and the conclusion of winter. Typically observed on January 14th or 15th, Sankranti brings families together for a joyous mix of rituals, traditions, and delicious treats.
While all students will revel in a six-day break, Intermediate students get an extra day of revelry, returning to their junior colleges on January 17th.

Following the holiday period, Formative Assessment (FA 4) is planned for students from Class 1st to 10th, scheduled between January 29 and February 29, 2024. Additionally, the Summative Assessment (SA 2) is slated to occur from April 08 to 18, 2024. Makar Sankranti, the Harvest festival, is widely celebrated across India with immense enthusiasm and grandeur.
This Hindu festival marks the agricultural transition and the conclusion of winter, observed on January 14th or 15th annually. It signifies the commencement of longer days and the advent of the harvest season in India.
The festivities encompass diverse regional customs and traditions throughout the nation. Ritualistic bathing in sacred rivers, kite flying, exchanging sweets crafted from sesame and jaggery, and paying homage to the sun god are among the customary practices. Makar Sankranti is a time for familial gatherings, cultural pursuits, and expressing gratitude for the harvest and natural elements. Each region in India commemorates this festival uniquely, showcasing the country's rich cultural diversity and heritage.
