Telangana School Fee Hike: Parents to Pay 15% More Annually
The Telangana Recognized School Managements Association (TRSMA) has proposed a structured categorization of fee slabs for unaided private schools in alignment with GO MS No.1. The proposed slabs include pre-primary, primary, upper primary, and high school categories. Additionally, the association has requested that private schools charging less than ₹55,000 annually be classified as budget private schools and be exempt from fee regulations.
TRSMA representatives highlighted that Telangana has approximately 11,500 private schools, and subjecting all of them to strict fee regulations could lead to bureaucratic challenges and corruption, making daily operations difficult.

Another major concern raised by the association is the lack of clear guidelines for handling fee defaulters. School managements have urged the education department to establish defined procedures for fee collection, as currently, 10-20% of students in budget private schools default on payments each year.
Moreover, managements often receive recommendations from political leaders, organizations, and government officials requesting fee concessions, further straining school finances. "This situation is making it challenging for schools to sustain operations. We request the government to introduce clear rules for handling fee defaulters," said S. Sreenivas Reddy, honorary president of TRSMA.
