Telangana Rain: Govt Declares Holiday For Schools, Colleges On July 20, 21

The Telangana Government has declared holidays for two days to all education institutions in the state - Thursday and Friday (20th and 21st July) - due to heavy rainfall.

The State's Education Minister Sabitha Reddy announced the news on Twitter. "Keeping in view of the heavy rainfall in the state and under the instructions of the Honourable CM, KCR garu, the Govt has decided to declare holidays for two days to all education institutions in the state. That is Thursday and Friday," she tweeted.

Rains continued to lash Telangana for the second consecutive day on Wednesday. The Met Centre of IMD here said the Southwest Monsoon has been vigorous over Telangana.

Heavy to very heavy rainfall occurred at isolated places in Bhadradri- Kothagudem district. Heavy rainfall occurred at a few places in Adilabad and Mulugu districts and at isolated places in Kamareddy, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Warangal and other districts in the state.

In its weather forecast and farmers' weather bulletin, the Met Centre said light to moderate rain or thunder showers are very likely to occur at most places over Telangana on Thursday. In its weather warnings, it said heavy rain is very likely to occur at isolated places in Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Rajanna Sirsilla and other districts on July 20.

State Municipal Administration Minister K T Rama Rao recently convened a meeting with officials and instructed them to remain fully prepared to handle any potential heavy rainfall in Hyderabad over the next two to three days. He emphasized that ensuring the safety and well-being of the people must be their utmost priority, as stated in an official release.

During her visit to the town, the Collector also inspected a school which will serve as a relief center for residents who might be affected by the flooding in their areas.

In June, the state experienced a significant rainfall deficiency of up to 50 per cent.
