Telangana Gruha Jyothi Yojana 2024: How To Apply Online For 200 Units Free Electricity?

Good news for Telangana residents! This month, prepare to enjoy free electricity thanks to the newly launched Telangana Gruha Jyothi scheme. Under this scheme, all households, regardless of ownership, are eligible to receive up to 200 units of free electricity per month.

According to reports, the Telangana State Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TSSPDCL), bill collectors will be asking for Aadhaar, PAN, food security cards, and unique service numbers. These details will be utilized to calculate the average electricity consumption for the previous year, based on which the scheme will be executed.

"All consumers with an average electricity consumption of less than 200 units will receive a zero-electricity bill under this scheme, irrespective of ownership. This means that even tenants will benefit from the scheme," they stated.

The Karnataka Gruha Jyothi model serves as an example, where over two crore people in Karnataka are provided with free electricity. Under this scheme, households consuming below 200 units of power per month receive electricity at no cost.

In Karnataka, only consumers whose average power consumption plus 10 per cent of it amounts to less than 200 units are eligible for the scheme. A similar criterion is likely to be implemented in Telangana as well.

Telangana Gruha Jyothi: How to Apply Online?

Applying for the Gruha Jyothi Scheme in Telangana can be done through both online and offline methods:

Offline Method: You can apply by submitting a physical application form along with the necessary documents to the nearest Gram Panchayat, Mandal office, or Municipal Corporation.

To apply, follow these steps:

• Collect the Telangana Gruha Jyothi Scheme Application Form from any of the mentioned government offices.
• Fill out the application form accurately.
• Attach all the required documents along with the application form.
• Submit the completed Application Form along with all the documents to the same office from where the form was obtained.
• The received Application Form will undergo preliminary verification and then be forwarded to the Department of Electricity.

Online Method: Once the online portal is launched, you will be able to apply online by completing the application form and uploading all the required documents.

The Electricity Department will issue subsidized electricity bills to eligible individuals who consume less than 200 units of electricity per month.

Eligible domestic electricity users in Telangana can apply for free electricity under the Telangana Gruha Jyothi Scheme from December 28, 2023, to January 6, 2024.
