Telangana Govt to Build One of World’s Largest Eco Parks Worth Rs 1,000 Crore in Kancha Gachibowli

The Telangana government, recognising the ecological importance of Kancha Gachibowli, has now resolved to transform the forest into "one of the world's largest eco parks."

Eco park vision: Rs 1,000 crore and a shift to 'Future City'

According to government sources, the updated plan includes relocating the University of Hyderabad (UoH) to a new "Future City" on the outskirts of Hyderabad.

The university will be granted 100 acres there, supported by an investment of Rs 1,000 crore to establish a new campus.

The proposed eco park, intended to rival some of the globe's largest urban green spaces, will boast features such as tall observatories, walking paths, wildlife areas, butterfly gardens, open-air gyms, and even a turtle park.

Authorities aim to adopt a "micro-ecosystem" approach to preserve biodiversity, analyse soil profiles, and introduce a variety of tree species.

Global experts and a governing council to steer design

Officials revealed that the project will involve collaboration with environmental specialists from around the world.

It is also reported that, to ensure transparency and scientific integrity, the government intends to establish a governing council comprising environmental scientists, academics, student representatives, and conservationists to oversee the park's development.
