Telangana Bandh: Schools and Colleges Shut as Student Groups Protest Education Sector Issues
Telangana witnessed a bandh in the education sector as several left-wing student organisations called for the closure of schools and colleges. The protest highlights key demands for improvements in the state's education system.
Student bodies including SFI, AISF, PDSU, AIDSO, AISB, AIFDS, and AIPSU issued a joint statement on Tuesday, urging the state government to take immediate action on long-standing issues.

Key Demands from Student Groups
The primary demands include the appointment of a dedicated minister for the education department, strict legislation to regulate fees in private and corporate institutions, and the filling of vacant posts such as teachers, MEOs, DEOs, lecturers, and principals.
They are also seeking permanent buildings for Gurukuls and hostels, which currently operate out of rented facilities. Scientific revision of Gurukul school timings, along with the release of pending scholarships and fee reimbursement dues, are among their urgent asks.
Classes Cancelled, Parents Alerted
In response to the bandh call, several private schools and colleges sent out messages to parents on Tuesday night, informing them that classes would remain suspended on Wednesday. Many parents chose to keep their children at home to avoid any safety concerns.
However, some institutions did not issue any communication, leaving many parents confused and concerned about sending their children to school amid uncertainty.
Social Media Buzz and Widespread Support
The bandh has gained traction on social media, with students and activists posting messages in support of the strike. The protest aims to draw attention to the need for systemic changes in Telangana's education system.
As the situation unfolds, student groups remain hopeful that the government will respond to their demands and bring long-overdue reforms to the sector.
