Who is Seethakka?

Born into an Adivasi Koya tribe family in Jagganagudem village, Anasuya had a past involvement with Naxalism before entering politics. At the age of 14 in 1987, she joined the Janashakti Naxal group but became disillusioned with the movement, leading to her exit after an eleven-year involvement.

In 1997, she surrendered to the police under the general amnesty plan. Subsequently, Anasuya resumed her education, eventually becoming a lawyer. In 2022, she successfully earned her Ph.D. in political science from Osmania University.

Seethakka forayed into politics in 2004 by joining the TDP. However, she lost in the first election but five years later, she won the Mulugu seat.

In the first elections conducted after Telangana was carved out as a separate state from Andhra Pradesh in 2014, she was defeated by the BRS candidate Azmeera Chandulal.

However, she joined the Congress in 2017 and emerged victorious in the 2018 assembly elections.

Her Work During Pandemic

During the 2020 COVID-19 lockdown, Anasuya visited many villages along the Telangana-Chhattisgarh border and engaged in relief efforts, distributing essential items such as rice, dal, and masks to those in need.
