The department has warned of heavy to very heavy rainfall and gale-force winds, prompting local authorities to prioritize student safety.

According to official updates, schools in Vizag, NTR, Bapatla, Krishna, and Guntur districts will remain closed on October 29 due to ongoing severe weather.

The decision follows three consecutive days of intense rain and strong winds, which have disrupted daily life in these regions. The IMD's red and orange alerts forecast rainfall up to 20 cm and wind speeds reaching 90-100 kmph as Cyclone Montha makes landfall.

The latest IMD bulletin indicates that Cyclone Montha, currently classified as a Severe Cyclonic Storm (SCS) over the Bay of Bengal, is expected to make landfall between Machilipatnam and Kalingapatnam late evening/night on October 28. Rainfall is likely to persist until October 29, particularly across Kakinada, Godavari, Eluru, Guntur, Palnadu, Prakasam, and YSR Kadapa districts.

District administrations have urged parents and students to stay updated through official announcements and avoid unnecessary travel in coastal and low-lying areas during this period.
