Kt Rama Rao Lashes Out at Congress, Calling Its Stance on Public Spending Illogical and Misleading

BRS working president KT Rama Rao criticized the Congress government for its contradictory stance on public spending. He questioned why the government was allocating Rs 200 crore to host the Miss World beauty pageant while condemning the Rs 46 crore spent on the Formula-E race during the BRS regime.

Taking aim at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Rama Rao asked, "What is this perverse logic? Can you please explain, Rahul Gandhi Ji?" His remarks come as the Congress faces backlash for prioritizing extravagant events over fulfilling its electoral promises.

Telangana is set to host the 72nd Miss World competition from May 7 to May 31, with events across various locations and the grand finale in Hyderabad. However, the government's decision to fund the event has drawn criticism, particularly after it previously filed a case against the BRS government for spending a significantly lower amount on the Formula-E race.

Shifting focus to the state's agricultural crisis, Rama Rao accused the Congress government of neglecting irrigation projects initiated under former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao. He claimed that Telangana's farmers, who once thrived under the BRS government, are now struggling due to water shortages and lack of support.

He alleged that Congress had allowed Telangana's water to be diverted to Andhra Pradesh, leaving fields parched and crops withering. "Under BRS, even during dry months, lakes and canals had sufficient water for two crop cycles. Today, farmers are left in despair," he said.

Rama Rao further criticized the government for failing to provide irrigation water, free electricity, quality seeds, and fertilizers. He accused Congress of pushing farmers into financial distress by not procuring their produce.

Warning that agriculture in Telangana was in crisis, he condemned Congress for betraying farmers with empty promises, claiming the once-prosperous sector was now in turmoil under its rule.
