Gachibowli police have arrested Telugu actress Kalpika Ganesh following an altercation at Prism Pub on May 29, during a birthday celebration that resulted in alleged property damage, verbal abuse, and false accusations. The episode has subsequently gathered steam on social media, with recordings of the confrontation circulating and sparking public debate.

What Happened

According to the complaint filed by the pub's general manager, Kalpika arrived at Prism Pub in Gachibowli with a group of friends to celebrate her birthday. The trouble reportedly began when she demanded a complimentary cheesecake, citing practices at other clubs. When the staff offered a brownie as a goodwill gesture, she refused, allegedly escalating the situation.

Witnesses and staff claim that Kalpika engaged in a heated verbal altercation, during which she used abusive and body-shaming language against employees. She also reportedly crumpled and threw the bill-amounting to ₹2,200-and tossed a plate, causing minor property damage.

Police officials present at the scene reported that Kalpika continued to verbally abuse the staff and refused to cooperate even in their presence.

Live Stream and Social Media Claims

Amid the chaos, Kalpika went live on Instagram to broadcast the incident. In the hours following the confrontation, she posted on social media accusing the pub staff of rape and molestation-allegations that police have since called "false and defamatory."

A police official stated, "We reviewed the footage and witness statements. There is currently no evidence to support the allegations of sexual assault made by Ms. Kalpika Ganesh."

Legal Action Taken

After an initial delay, the pub's management filed an official complaint, citing continued provocation and defamation by the actress. Based on the complaint, the Gachibowli police registered a case on June 10 under the newly enforced Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Act. The charges include:

Section 352: Intentional insult to provoke breach of peace

Section 351: Criminal intimidation

Authorities are examining CCTV footage of the incident and plan to issue a notice summoning Kalpika Ganesh for questioning as part of the ongoing investigation.

In response, Kalpika has released multiple videos defending her actions, claiming she was humiliated by the pub staff. She emphasized that she was accompanied by a physically challenged friend and said their dignity was disrespected. She has also filed a counter-complaint accusing the pub of harassment.
