Hyderabad Weather Alert: IMD Issues Yellow Alert For Thunderstorms, Lightning Till March 25

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) Hyderabad has issued a yellow alert for Telangana, warning of thunderstorms across all districts for two days as weather conditions turn unstable amid rising temperatures in the state.

The alert comes at a time when several parts of Telangana are already experiencing intense heat, with temperatures crossing the 40 degrees Celsius mark.

Lightning, squalls likely across Telangana on March 24 and 25

According to IMD Hyderabad, thunderstorms are expected across Telangana on March 24 and 25, with lightning and squally winds also likely to accompany the weather activity. The yellow alert has been issued for all districts, indicating that residents across the state should remain cautious over the next two days.

The forecast suggests that the weather could shift rapidly from hot daytime conditions to thunderstorm activity, raising the possibility of localised disruptions, especially during travel and outdoor movement.

Temperatures cross 40°C in Telangana as heat builds up

Even as thunderstorm activity is expected, Telangana continues to remain under the grip of rising temperatures. As per the Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS), temperatures in the state have already crossed 40 degrees Celsius.

The highest temperature recorded in Telangana was 40.1 degrees Celsius in Jayashankar district on Saturday, March 21, highlighting the intensifying heat conditions across parts of the state.

In Hyderabad, the highest temperature was recorded at 36.4 degrees Celsius in Bandlaguda, Bahadurpura and Golkonda, indicating that the city too is witnessing warm conditions ahead of the expected weather change.

Hazy mornings and thunderstorms forecast in Hyderabad till March 25

For Hyderabad, IMD has forecast hazy conditions during the morning hours along with the likelihood of thunderstorms through March 25. The department said haze is likely to persist across all major zones of the city in the early part of the day.

These zones include Charminar, Khairathabad, Kukatpally, LB Nagar, Secunderabad and Serilingampally, where residents may witness reduced visibility in the mornings before thunderstorm activity develops later.

The combination of haze, heat and thunderstorms could make weather conditions uncomfortable and unpredictable in the city over the next few days.

Residents advised to plan travel carefully amid changing weather

With thunderstorms expected in all districts of Telangana, residents have been advised to stay alert and plan their travel accordingly. Sudden rain, lightning and squalls can affect road visibility and commuting conditions, especially during peak hours.

Given the heat already prevailing in the state and the forecast of unstable weather, authorities are likely to keep a close watch on conditions as Telangana moves into the final week of March.
