Hyderabad Mango Prices Likely To Fall As West Asia Crisis Hits Exports, UAE Demand Drops

Mango prices in Hyderabad could soften in the coming days as exports from Telangana take a hit amid the ongoing West Asia crisis, with exporters facing weaker demand, rising shipping costs and uncertainty across key overseas markets.

The West Asia crisis and rising freight costs are disrupting Telangana's mango exports, potentially increasing domestic supply in Hyderabad and softening prices for varieties like Benishan and Rasaal, despite current firm pricing.

With a large share of India's mango exports usually heading to countries such as the UAE, the disruption is expected to push more fruit into the domestic market. This could increase supply in Hyderabad and other Indian cities, potentially bringing down prices for consumers, even as exporters worry about finding local buyers for premium-quality produce.

West Asia Crisis Disrupts Mango Exports From Telangana

Every year, Telangana exports mangoes to several international markets, especially the UAE, the US and Canada. But the ongoing conflict in West Asia has significantly affected demand, particularly from Gulf countries, creating fresh pressure on the mango trade.

India exports around 30,000 metric tonnes of mangoes annually, and the UAE alone accounts for the largest share, with over 10,000 metric tonnes. With the regional crisis continuing, exporters are now waiting for conditions to stabilise before shipments can return to normal.

The uncertainty has also increased export costs, which is likely to impact overall volumes and place downward pressure on domestic mango prices.

Freight Costs Rise, US And Canada Shipments Also Affected

The export challenge is not limited to West Asia. Shipments to destinations such as the US and Canada have also come under strain due to a rise in freight rates, making exports more expensive and less viable for traders.

As per a report published in Times of India, exports are recording a 20-30 percent decline. While this may offer some relief to buyers in the domestic market, exporters remain uncertain whether premium varieties that are typically sold abroad will be easily absorbed locally.

That mismatch between export-grade supply and domestic demand could lead to sharper price corrections if the crisis persists.

Current Mango Prices In Hyderabad

For now, mangoes are still trading at relatively firm levels in Hyderabad, with popular varieties seeing strong retail demand.

  • Benishan mangoes are currently being sold at Rs 150-200 per kg
  • Rasaal mangoes are available at Rs 100-150 per kg

Rasaal mangoes are especially popular for their sweetness and juicy flavour, while Benishan remains one of the most sought-after table varieties in the city.

Hyderabad receives a wide range of mangoes from districts across Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka, which helps maintain strong supply through the season.

More Supply In Local Markets Could Pull Prices Lower

If the West Asia crisis continues and export volumes remain under pressure, more mangoes are likely to stay within India instead of being shipped overseas. That could lead to a supply build-up in major domestic markets, including Hyderabad.

As a result, traders expect mango prices in Hyderabad to dip in the coming days, particularly if export-grade fruit starts flowing into local mandis and retail markets in larger volumes.

While this may benefit buyers looking for better deals during the summer season, exporters may continue to struggle with shrinking overseas demand and rising logistics costs.
