GHMC Seizes Taj Banjara Hotel in Hyderabad Over Unpaid Taxes
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has taken strict action against the renowned Taj Banjara Hotel in Hyderabad for failing to clear property tax dues. The luxury hotel, located in the upscale Banjara Hills area, was seized after authorities issued multiple notices regarding outstanding payments.
Hotel Seized Over ₹1.4 Crore in Unpaid Taxes

According to reports, the hotel owed ₹1.40 crore in property taxes, and despite repeated warnings, the management did not comply with GHMC's directives. The civic body, as part of its intensified drive to recover pending property taxes from defaulters across Hyderabad, moved forward with the seizure.
No Official Statement from Hotel Authorities
Currently, The hotel authorities have not issued any official statement regarding the matter.As of February 2025, Taj Banjara is no longer listed on the official Taj Hotels website, raising further questions about its current status.
This move by GHMC signals a firm stance against tax defaulters, reinforcing its commitment to ensuring compliance with municipal regulations across the city.
