Cyberabad Orders Closure Of Wine Shops, Toddy Shops And Bars On April 2: Here’s Why

Ahead of Hanuman Jayanti celebrations, the Cyberabad police have ordered the temporary closure of wine shops, toddy shops and bars attached to restaurants within their limits on Thursday, April 2. The restrictions will remain in force from 10 am to 10 pm as part of precautionary measures to ensure law and order during the religious observance and related processions.

Cyberabad imposes 12-hour closure order for liquor outlets

According to the police order, all wine shops, toddy shops and bars attached to restaurants in the Cyberabad Commissionerate area will remain closed for 12 hours on April 2, coinciding with Hanuman Jayanti.

Officials said the decision has been issued under the provisions of the Telangana State Excise Act, 1968. The move is aimed at preventing any untoward incidents and maintaining public peace during the festival.

The order applies specifically from 10 am to 10 pm on Thursday.

Massive security arrangements in Hyderabad ahead of procession

Meanwhile, Hyderabad police have stepped up preparations across the city ahead of the Hanuman Jayanti procession scheduled for April 2.

Authorities said all necessary measures are being taken to maintain a peaceful atmosphere in Hyderabad as devotees prepare to take part in the large-scale yatra.

On Tuesday, March 31, Hyderabad City Police Commissioner V C Sajjanar chaired a coordination meeting with officials and organisers to review the security and logistical arrangements for the event.

168 processions expected to merge into main yatra

Police officials said that at least 168 processions from different parts of the city are expected to converge into the main Hanuman Jayanti yatra.

Given the scale of the event, the city police are making elaborate deployment plans to manage traffic, crowd movement and public safety throughout the day.

The administration is particularly focused on smooth coordination as multiple processions merge into a single major religious rally.

Nearly 3,000 personnel to be deployed, sensitive areas under watch

To ensure security during the celebrations, nearly 3,000 police personnel will be deployed across the city, along with additional armed forces.

Police are also maintaining extra vigilance at religious places in Hyderabad as part of the preventive security measures.

The extensive arrangements reflect the scale of the annual procession and the administration's effort to ensure that Hanuman Jayanti passes off peacefully without any disruption.
