Telangana CM Revanth Reddy Accelerates Musi River Rejuvenation And Hyderabad Metro Expansion Projects

To examine important Telangana infrastructure projects, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy called a meeting on Friday at the Integrated Command and Control Center in Banjara Hills.

The Chief Minister stressed the need to expedite the Musi River Rejuvenation Project during the meeting. He looked at plans for a 2.5-kilometer bridge over Mir Alam Tank and the proposed Gandhi Sarovar at Bapughat. Reddy gave officials instructions to finish all required surveys and detailed project reports (DPRs) in the interim and to invite tenders by June. Inspired by Singapore's Gardens by the Bay, he had the idea to turn the islands in Mir Alam Tank into tourist destinations with features like bird sanctuaries, man-made waterfalls, amphitheaters, adventure parks, and resorts.

To increase tourism appeal, he also suggested combining these developments with the nearby Nehru Zoological Park. Reddy urged officials to speed up land acquisition procedures while reviewing the Regional Ring Road (RRR) project's progress during the same meeting. In an effort to increase regional connectivity, he also directed the creation of plans for new road connections between Hyderabad and Raipur and Mancherial.

The extension of the Hyderabad Metro Rail to the proposed Future City was one of the meeting's major decisions. Reddy gave officials instructions to create plans for a 40-kilometer metro line that would connect Future City and the Young India Skill Development University to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA). This extension is a component of the metro project's second phase, which is expected to cost ₹24,269 crore and include a total of 76.4 kilometers of new lines. This phase will be carried out by the state government in partnership with the federal government, with an equal funding share.

With 56 villages spread across seven mandals, the proposed Future City is roughly 765 square kilometers in size. By combining inclusive residential design, sustainable industrial development, and smart urban infrastructure, it is intended to become India's first net-zero city. Future City, which is anchored by AI City, pharmaceutical, and manufacturing clusters, as well as multimodal mobility and metro access, seeks to improve the quality of life, increase economic activity, and create job opportunities.
